Police want to question a man potentially involved in the stalking of a local teenager. Read More
Local police are investigating the stalking of a teenager in Warracknabeal earlier this month ... and say anyone with information should come forward.

Detectives were informed an older man was allegedly seen staring at a 16-year-old boy outside a toilet block in Warracknabeal on May 5.

The teenager went into one of the cubicles in the block when he heard someone enter the cubicle next door to him ... and he noticed a person peering through holes in the cubicle door.

The boy ran from the scene and local police were informed.

Officers have released an image of the man they believe can help with enquiries.

Nine country Police stations are being "shirked" by Victoria Police officers. Read More
It's been revealed Victoria Police are "shirking" country postings, with 9 single-officer stations facing closure after sitting empty for two years.

A recent report shows healthy postings in the Wimmera Grampians region, but stations like those at Piangil in the Mallee may close.

Police Deputy Commissioner Kieran Walshe says it's hard to get the right city cops to move to the country.

"The people that go and work in these stations, they've got a lot of responsibility, they need to be able to comfortable working on their own and interact with the community," he said.

"There are some special requirements about it and not everyone wants to do that."

North Central CMA is seeking feedback on the Regional Catchment strategy. Read More
The North Central Catchment Management Authority wants feedback from St Arnaud and Charlton residents on the draft Regional Catchment Strategy.

The 2012-18 plan will be used to develop projects and seek funding for environmental assets like waterways and soils.

The CMA's Rowan Hogan says meetings will be held over the next few weeks.

"We really want to know from the community whether we've got the assets right," he said.

"We went out in 2009 and asked what they value in their local community, and we took that information and created the draft strategy, and we want to know what they think of the priorities we've set."

The CMA will hold a meeting in Charlton on May 29th, and will travel to St. Arnaud on June 7th.

The State Government wants Wimmera Mallee locals to focus on gambling responsibly, recognising National Responsible Gambling Awareness Week this week.
