University of Ballarat TAFE cuts are not expected to affect the Wimmera. Read More
Up to 100 people will lose their jobs at the University of Ballarat due to TAFE funding cuts, but the Wimmera's courses are reportedly safe.
The university has campuses offering TAFE courses in Horsham, Stawell and Ararat.
Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford says the government has chosen to limit opportunities to local students.
"This decision is a direct response to the cuts announced in this month's State Budget; the Government has made the decision to make the largest cut to TAFE in Victorian history," she said.
"Government is about choices, but this government has chosen to limit opportunities for people to further their education right across regional Victoria."

Longerenong College is pushing for better promotion of the ag industry. Read More
Longerenong College this week told a parliamentary enquiry into agriculture education that more needs to be done to attract young people to the industry.
College General Manager John Goldsmith told Nationals Senator for Victoria Bridget McKenzie that the industry's career paths need to be better promoted.
Senator McKenzie says there are not enough graduates to fill vacant positions in the industry.
"We're just not great at selling what a fantastic career ag is, and industry obviously needs to be involved in that conversation," she said.
"It is our issue out in the region and we've got to promote it better, and we've had some great recommendations out of this inquiry on how to do that."

Agriculture Minister Peter Walsh wants to double the state's production. Read More
The Victorian Coalition Government wants to double the state’s food and fibre production by 2032 to meet the growing global demand.
The Wimmera Mallee's grain and dairy production rates are set to increase, for agriculture to be to Victoria what mining has been to Western Australia and Queensland over the last decade.
Agriculture Minister Peter Walsh made the announcement yesterday.
"There will be significant demand for food and fibre out of the Asian markets as more people move into their middle class, and Victoria is well positioned to meet that demand," he said.
"The challenge I've issued for both the department and the industry is; let's work together to double food and fibre production over the next 20 years."
